The Cheeca Lodge & Spa is known for turquoise water, towering palms and calm breezes where you can indulge in mind, body and spirit on the Atlantic Ocean in the Florida Keys. The Cheeca Lodge is located in the Sportfishing Capital of the World. The Cheeca has the longest fishing pier in the Florida Keys. Activities available at the luxury resort include snorkeling, sea kayaking, bicycling, and scuba diving.

Reservations require a deposit equal to one night's stay. Additional nights will be billed 30 days prior to arrival. Deposit can be refunded with a cancellation by November 14th. Upon check-in, each guest will be required to present a valid credit card, on which an amount of sufficient pre-authorization can be obtained to cover the remaining room fees and taxes for the stay plus $200 per room per night. All accounts must be settled in full upon departure.

Getting There

The Cheeca Lodge is 1 hour and 50 minutes from the Miami International Airport (MIA) and 2 hours and 30 minutes from the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport (FLL). Both airports have non-stop from most major US and Canadian cities. The best transportation to The Cheeca Lodge in the Florida Keys is car rental. The drive to the Cheeca is breathtaking.

Oncology

Craig Clifford DVM, ACVIM Oncology

Dr. Craig Clifford graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and received an MS in Animal Science/Virology from the University of Delaware. After completing an internship and a medical oncology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, he became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) in 2003. He is a medical oncologist at BluePearl Malvern and was previously the director of BluePearl Science.

He is active in clinical research within a referral setting and serves as an advisory board member with industry and non-profit foundations. He has authored/co-authored over 70 papers and book chapters and is a frequent lecturer at major veterinary meetings in the USA and abroad. Dr. Clifford is a member of the VCA Pet Cancer Care Alliance Committee, has served on many VCS and ACVIM committees, is a member of the Oncology Pathology Working Group, and was an Examiner for the Australian Scientist’s Oncology Specialty Exam.

Internal Medicine

Robert Armentano, DVM, ACVIM

Dr. Robert Armentano is board certified in small animal internal medicine. He is a Chicago native and did his undergraduate studies in animal sciences at the University of Illinois. After obtaining early admission into veterinary school he completed his training at the University of Illinois as well. After his DVM degree he continued his training at the University of Florida for a rotating internship and internal medicine residency. Dr. Armentano has engaged in many speaking opportunities including Chicago news updates on emerging infectious diseases including blastomycosis, leptospirosis and canine influenza. Dr. Armentano has participated in prospective research, published book chapters and is actively participating in research trials.

Dr. Armentano currently works at the Veterinary Specialty Center in the Chicagoland area. He lives with his wife and four-legged friends (2 dogs). Dr. Armentano enjoys travel, the Chicago Cubs (Go Cubbies) and endurance sports including marathons and triathlons.
